Update on Indoor Events and COVID-19 Home Tests

Long Beach Unified School District

菠菜网lol正规平台 again extends a huge thank you to everyone for their patience and perseverance as we work to emerge from the regional spike in COVID-19 cases. We are sharing revised guidance to allow additional capacity at indoor school events, with safety protocols in place. We are also distributing another round of COVID-19 test kits that are going home with students starting today, Jan. 28.

Indoor Events

Indoor venues can reach full capacity. Admittance to indoor events that exceed 500 people is allowed with proof of vaccination or evidence of a negative COVID-19 test within the last 72 hours.

Home Test Kits

Elementary, middle and K-8 students will receive single-test FlowFlex brand kits. These videos in English and Spanish show how to use these kits.

High school students will continue to receive the iHealth two-pack kit. Our recently shared videos about these kits remain available here in English and Spanish.

As a reminder, COVID-19 tests are recommended for your child when you receive a notification that your child has been exposed. When checking your child after a potential exposure, tests are recommended for use three to five days after the exposure.

If the home test is negative: No further action is required. The student may return to school.

If the home test is positive: Please keep your child home and notify the school.

Also remember that a student who has tested positive for COVID-19 will need to produce a negative COVID-19 test administered through a medical entity such as the local health department or a local pharmacy if they wish to return after the minimum five days of isolating at home. Such a test is not required after a full 10-day isolation period if the student is symptom free. Students who need a test from a medical provider can take advantage of testing clinics offered by Long Beach Health and Human Services on Mondays through Fridays at Cabrillo High School, 2001 Santa Fe Ave., Long Beach. Enter from Hill Street. Testing will be offered 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the exception of a 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. break each day.

Please note that at-home testing is still separate from the continued testing that is taking place for students participating in 菠菜网lol正规平台 sports and athletics. These students will continue to be subject to testing as per the recommendations of the California Department of Public Health.

Thank you for your continued support of our health and safety measures.
